More birthdays to celebrate this month.
Ryan turned 30 the day before we were leaving for New Orleans, so his family and a few friends came over for dinner and then out to D&T for a few drinks. We had to pack that night to head out the next morning.
Millie celebrated her 1st birthday with a pool party. Her smile is so contagious. I can't believe she is already one! Glad we were able to celebrate her birthday with her.
We met for lunch for my brother's birthday, and I remember saying we should get a group picture. Of course, I forgot. Next time..
Sophia turned 3 this week. Ryan and I were able to celebrate with her on her birthday and had a mini cupcake, but we also had a fun time a her big birthday party earlier today. My sister brought over their toddler bouncy house and the little cousins loved it. I sure hope they all sleep well tonight after all the jumping they did.
Thankful to be an auntie to these two beautiful girls. Love them.

The Big 3-0 in the Big Easy
I guess I have all of June to catch up on, but a lot went on in June including two trips. 1) New Orleans with the Smullens and 2) Seattle & Vancouver with just Ryan and me. I'll post about other events in June soon, hopefully.
Since Ryan, a lot of our friends, and myself are turning 30 this year, we wanted to take a trip or do something bigger than just our normal dinner. Even though we couldn't really figure out the right time to go because of everyone's schedule, the Smullens and us decided to still go to New Orleans. Kim and I have never been to Nola before, but Ryan and Dan have. We both expected it to be dirty, smelly, and just one big party, but I think it was dirtier, smellier, and more free than we thought it would be. Nola truly is a place like no other.
Highlights of that weekend: hand grenades, Lafitte's Blacksmith shop bar, "how many bloody people did you see last night?," hurricanes + white pants = unhappy lady, Krystal burgers at 3:30am, "you have Cafe du Monde behind you," grilled oysters, Mother's, Luke's, "I'll be downstairs," Sno-bliz, Cochon butcher, wedding parades, and just walking around.
Thanks Smullens for a fun trip!

Brrrrr
It is a lot colder up here than I thought it was going to be. I'll post about where we are after we get back. I still need to post about our trip to New Orleans we took last weekend with the Smullens.
After we finally arrived, we enjoyed a short tour of the city by our shuttle driver. He is probably the best shuttle driver we have had since he had so much history and information to share. He also gave nice, updated maps. Our apartment is the nicest one we've stayed in from airbnb so far and the neighborhood seems like a lot of fun.
Off to grab some breakfast from the nice bakery downstairs and explore the city! I think this is as positive as it has been this week. Have a good weekend everyone.

Fo'free
Trying to be peppy and happy about things but I guess I'm not in the mood this week. Not that anything is bad, just a blah mood so that's why I am trying/tried to post in order to spend some time to think about the good parts of the day or try to find a positive spin on it instead.
Thursday:
- got to see Millie again
- had dinner and dessert with Claudia
- surprised Ryan and myself by fitting a weeks worth of clothes into a carry on
- Lily finally started to feel a little bit more like herself late last night.
Friday is off to a bit of a rocky start. We got to the airport too late to check in a bag, so they told us to go from one line to the next until we were eventually booked on another flight. Wish we could have slept in and spent more time with Lily when she isn't feeling well, but we were going to have to wait once we arrived at our destination before checking in to the apartment so it all works out. We were also upgraded to economy plus so woo hoo. Ryan: "fo'free."
Time to find some breakfast or take a nap.

Don't you be a grumpy
Trying to see the positives today:
- got a nice haircut with a long relaxing head massage
- got to catch up briefly with Stacy, Adrien, and Claudia
- sort of surprised in myself that I've walked into Target twice this week without buying anything (once to return something and the other to find something that they were out of)
- thankful that Ryan took Lily to the vet today since she is sick. Hope she is willing to try these meds tomorrow so she can start to feel better. More snuggles but hoping for less trips outside and throwing up during the night.
Try again tomorrow!

Clap along
Positives from Tuesday:
- afternoon nap was great
- Ryan has been cooking dinner a lot since he's home for the summer and I'm enjoying all these meals. Tonight we had chick fil a copy cat chicken strips
- had invitations printed that I designed and even though I realized I forgot the "please respond by ___," I'm very happy with how they turned out and how helpful everyone was at the stores I went to.
I don't have a photo from today, but instead I'll post this cute one of Jane, future Baylor Bear.

OptimisticKimmy
Back when we mainly used AIM to chat with everyone, my username use to be "Optimistickimmy." I remember in my old autograph book from junior high or high school, I didn't buy yearbooks for some reason, people would often write "keep smiling" or something along those lines. Maybe I did smile a lot back then, but I haven't really been feeling so smiley lately. I'm not too sure I'd still see those same type of things written to me if I walked around with an autograph book now. Instead it might say I have bitchy resting face. Ok, maybe not that, but at times I will give a bitchy resting face if needed.
Anyways, I have been feeling a bit pessimistic lately. I don't know if I have been voicing it out loud as much as I feel myself thinking it, so time for a change. Creating my own happiness so to speak. This week will be about OptimisticKimmy. I'll try to make a short post each weekday to focus on the positive or glass half full point of view.
For today:
- didn't pay any attention to what the weather was going to be this week, left my rain jacket at home, but I did plan on getting a car wash today and the storm took care of that for me.
- weird schedule this week due to reschedules and kids on hold = less money and work, but it allowed me the opportunity for a last minute coffee date with Belem and we always have a good chat.
- less work = more time with the hubby while he is home for the summer.
Ok, maybe I need to work on the positives, but this is day 1 so let's hope they are more cheery as the week goes on.
